Bible Roadmaps in 2024
Hello there.
2023 was a busy year for me. I wasn’t able to do much writing for this blog at all for various reasons. My kids are getting older, various work projects and just life in general has gotten in the way of doing any writing for this blog.
One of my roadblocks with writing is feeling overwhelmed that I need to cater to various platforms - website, Instagram posts, Instagram stories, Instagram reels, other potential platforms (YouTube, Podcasting).
I don’t have the capacity or desire for making content across all these platforms.
But in 2024 I want to create some space to do more writing.
My plan is to focus on just the website blog, and the Instagram account.
But instead of trying to replicate the content of the blog onto an Instagram post (which was time consuming and isn’t really what social media is designed for), I want to keep long form writing on the website blog and keep short form and bite sized content on Instagram.
So rather than copying and pasting a whole blog onto an Instagram post, I’ll try a simplified format on social media and direct people to the website if they want more details.
I also want to explore more creative ways to communicate ideas.
One design type I really enjoy is mind maps, and turning them into an Instagram slideshow post - creating a bit of an interactive experience. It would look something like this:
Here is a live example - https://www.instagram.com/p/C1dKQcVyqO1/?igsh=MWw2Zm5reXRkdHJmag==
Lastly, I’m never quite satisfied with the final version of what I’m writing.
I’ve realised that my intended outcome with this blog is to provide massive insights and inspiration to readers, yet that often isn’t the point of writing.
Instead I should be trying to get thoughts and ideas out of my head, and put them into a place that may help others as well.
These won’t always be game changing articles, but little 1% thoughts that I can try and consistently output.
Website Blog 2024
Often I’ll jot down ideas and insights onto a list of drafts, but they’ll often just sit there because I feel like they’re under developed.
But what I’m planning on doing is building out these ideas a little bit further, and then posting as shorter articles.
If some of these ideas make their way to Instagram, then that’s great! But I’ll only want to do this if those articles can be formatted in a way that is appropriate for social media.
Instagram in 2024
Regarding Instagram - I’ve written a number of articles already that I can repurpose to mind maps and even Instagram Reels.
I’ve been exploring using AI tools (primarily Chat GPT) to read my content, and reformat it into shorter versions to use for reels captions.
These reels would consist of simple videos with a written hook, and a summarised version of an article pointing people to the website.
My hope is that by creating lots of reels, it’ll help generate favour with the social media algorithms to direct people to my content.
Other areas in 2024
I’d also like to put together an emailing list.
I read the book “Show Your Work” by Austin Kleon, and he makes a good point that websites and emailing lists are two communication tools of the World Wide Web that will likely never retire - they’re the building blocks of every other tool on the internet.
I don’t have a platform scoped out yet, as many of them aren’t free and can be expensive. So watch this space.
So for 2024 I’m going to focus on consistently writing and putting ideas on this blog.
The three primary areas of focus for the blog will be:
Practical steps to study the Bible
Reviewing resources and tools (including content and books) that have helped me in my studies
Productivity tips
Each of these three primary areas my have sub-topics, but if I deviate too much from these three primary areas I think my content will loose focus.
I’m hoping that this article will help clarify the lack of writing in 2023, and provide a bit of insight and hope for the content I’m aiming to produce in 2024.
Feel free to follow along on this website and on Instagram.
God bless!
